A distinguished panel will assemble for the popular Wine Man’s Bluff event which will take place at The BIG Sheep’s EWE2 arena on Saturday 7th October at 7.30pm.  The eminent quartet which comprise  Hody O’Flatherty, a French wine expert, politician David Chalmers, Estate agent Peter Mc Hugh and Anna Lacey, owner of award winning Country Life Brewery will be doing their utmost to deceive during what will be a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Based on the premise of the popular TV show ‘Call My Bluff’, teams will taste a variety of wines from around the world before hearing a different description of the wine from each of the panelists. The idea is for the team to pick the correct description, and avoid the bluffers on the panel.  The event which is sponsored by Tesco Bideford, is an event is to raise vital funds for North Devon Hospice and MacMillan Cancer Support.

Anne Tattersall event organizer is looking forward to the event and says, ‘This charity event promises to be a wonderful night out, and people who come along will get to sample a number of tasty wines, before having a lot of fun debating which of the panelists is bluffing in their descriptions.  Cheese and biscuits will also be included in the ticket price, to soak up some of the wine you will get through.’

Phil Langdon manager of Tesco Bideford, is also looking forward to the evening.  ‘Tesco Bideford are proud to sponsor this charity event and provide all the wine and food for the supper.  We are looking forward to raising money for North Devon Hospice and MacMillan Cancer Care, two charities close to my heart.’  Prior to the event Phil will be partaking in a grueling 480-mile cycle challenge to raise awareness of North Devon Hospice and McMillan Cancer Support and to raise vital funds for both local charities.  Phil will be cycling 48 miles a day from his home in Exeter to Tesco Bideford and back on a five-day tour.  The Tesco branch manager will start his cycling tour on Monday18th  (rest day on Thursday) with his grand finale taking place on Saturday 23rd September and culminating in a collection in 18 Tesco stores.  If Phil survives the challenge and has any energy left over he will be attending the Wine Man’s Buff Event on 7th October with his new wife who he will wed on Friday 1st September.

Philip Whelan, an eccentric wine buff from London is the mischief maker behind the panelists and has been very creative coming up with the bluff and truth cards and has said, "There may be one or two people who will attempt to get me drunk in the hope that I will reveal the bluffs and truths but there will be no corruption and no-one will get to the secret of the wines."

Wine Man’s Bluff will be held on the evening of Saturday 7th October at The BIG Sheep family attraction. Tickets are £10 including wine and supper to include, cheeses, biscuits and fruit. Tables of six are encouraged to enter but you may book as an individual and be allocated to a team.

There will also be a fantastic charity auction on the evening of the event with some fabulous holidays in Devon, Cornwall and London on offer. Bidding will commence on Friday 18th August. Click here for a full list of auction lots and please share the link with friends, work colleagues and family.
