As the good old English weather can let us down sometimes you might be looking for something to do whilst also staying dry on a rainy day in Devon! We’ve compiled six of the best rainy days to keep your family entertained on a day out in North Devon.
Aquariums are an ideal place to escape to on a rainy, drizzly day. Visitors to the Ilfracombe Aquarium will enjoy a unique zoned journey from the source of an Exmoor stream, down the river to an estuary, a local rockpool, harbour, coast and out to Lundy Island and it’s unique marine reserve.
You’ll be glad it rained, as you entertain your children with free quiz trails, extensive interpretation and presentations from experienced fish keeper guides. Demonstrations and interactive opportunities are all available throughout the day, at North Devon’s top Aquarium

It is open all year, and is reasonably priced, making it a great location for a fun family day out that won’t break the bank.
Experience Saxon life as you travel back in time and see what’s for sale at the Medieval Market. Listen to merchants trading at the Tome Stone, and escape from the enemy as the Civil War reaches the town! You can also explore the more genteel 18th century and tread the boards with John Gray’s Beggar’s Opera. There are missing mice to find and a Heritage Trail to follow through to the Floral Arch.
