Devon and Proud

3rd June 2019

Here at The BIG Sheep we love a celebration, and what better excuse than Devon Day to wave our Devon flags and dress up in green, black and white.

Devon Day falls on the 4th of June each year and is a great local tradition when we come together to celebrate everything that makes our county so unique, from the people to the produce, from gorgeous countryside through woodland to beach, we’re so proud of where we live.

Since becoming official in 2016, #devonday has attracted a massive online following, with people sharing their love for the county and ideas for the perfect Devon day on social media

You might think it’s strange that in Devon we celebrate our own day, but practically every day of the year is a ‘National’ Day of some sort. Did you know that March the 14th is ‘International Ask a Question Day’ or that August 16th is Tell A Joke Day? Granted some of these days are so weird that its hard to imagine how they are celebrated, but there are some that we at The BIG Sheep are definitely looking forward to.

Cheese lovers will be thrilled to hear that Tuesday 4th June is National Cheese Day.  We’ll be sure to celebrate with some Devon Oke and perhaps a creamy Sharpham. If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth then Friday 7th June is perfect you as its National Donut Day,that’s one National Day that the flock will definitely be celebrating.

If you love the limelight, then National Selfie Day on June 21st is perfect for you. We’re planning to see how many sheep selfies we can take – keep an eye on our twitter page for the evidence.
